Frequently Asked Questions

What is life coaching? Is it different than therapy?

Life and personal develoment coaching is a collaborative and creative process between the coach, the client, and -- in the case of Equus Coaching -- the horse. As the client, you are in the driver's seat for each session and your coach is there to offer you support and guidance to help you achieve your goals for the session. Coaching is not therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment and is not a replacement for those services.

Do I need to have any experience with horses to participate?

Nope! Whether you have years and years of experience with horses or none at all, you are welcome to give Equus Coaching a try. If you're not sure about Equus Coaching or have questions or concerns about being with horses, schedule a Discovery Call with me and I'll be happy to answer your questions.

Where do the Equus Coaching sessions take place?

Most private coaching sessions take place at various equine facilities in the greater Denver/mountain area. Currently, the primary locations are near Sedalia and Brighton, subject to availability.

Will I be able to ride the horse during my session?

All activities for Equus Coaching sessions are done on the ground, so there is no horseback riding involved. While we may discuss different aspects of basic horse behavior throughout your session, Equus Coaching is not intended to be a horsemanship lesson, training session, or riding lesson.

Can I work with my own horse during my session?

If you have your own horse and facility, it may be possible to include your horse in your session. If you are interested in a coaching session with your horse, please schedule a Discovery Call and we can discuss whether or not it might be the right fit for a coaching session. (Please note: Equus Coaching sessions are designed for personal development and are not intended for training purposes or to address technical, medical, or behavioral horsemanship concerns.)

How long is a session and how much does it cost?

All first-time clients will need to schedule an initial Discovery Call and complete the Discovery Call Booking Form prior to scheduling a coaching session. Discovery Calls are complimentary and provide an opportunity for both the coach and client to discuss goals and determine if and how best to move forward. All introductory Equus Coaching sessions are approximately 2 hours in duration and cost $150, but clients who wish to continue after completing their first session may opt for different session formats depending on their needs and scheduling availability. Please contact me directly to discuss creating a customized Equus Coaching plan to fit your needs!
